Privacy Policy

We collect the following categories of information:

• Account information. Your name, email address and mobile phone number, supplied when you register and used to create and secure your account.
• Profile information. Details you choose to add to your profile, such as photo, subjects, qualifications, experience, location/teaching area, fees, bio and (for tutors) verification documents you submit for KYC.
• Usage information. Records of how you interact with the Platform — searches, tutors you view or save, enquiries, bookings, messages, reviews and wallet (Dosti Points) activity.
• Device and log information. Technical data such as IP address, device and browser type, operating system, app version and timestamps, collected automatically when you use the Platform.
• Payment information. When you make a payment, our payment processor (Razorpay) collects and processes your payment-method details. We do not store full card numbers; we receive a transaction reference and status to fulfil your purchase.
• Communications. Messages you send to tutors, support requests, and the content of forms you submit (for example, a tutor request).

We use your information to:

• create and manage your account and authenticate you (including one-time-password sign-in by SMS);
• operate the marketplace — match students with tutors, display profiles, and enable enquiries and bookings;
• process payments, subscriptions and Dosti Points top-ups, and issue receipts;
• send service messages such as OTPs, booking updates, notifications and important account notices;
• provide support, prevent fraud and abuse, and keep the Platform secure;
• improve and develop our features and understand how the Platform is used; and
• comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We share personal data with trusted service providers who process it on our behalf and only as needed to provide the Platform:

• Razorpay — payment processing for top-ups, subscriptions and other charges.
• Twilio — delivery of SMS messages, including one-time passwords used for sign-in and verification.
• Google Cloud Platform — hosting, storage and infrastructure. Our data is hosted in the Asia South (Mumbai, asia-south1) region.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of users, or in connection with a business transfer. When you contact a tutor, the information you share in that exchange (such as your name and message) is visible to that tutor. We do not sell your personal information.

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to provide the Platform. After account closure we retain information only as required for legitimate business purposes — such as completing transactions, resolving disputes, preventing fraud, and meeting legal, tax and accounting obligations — after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Subject to applicable law, you can:

• access and review the personal information in your account;
• correct or update inaccurate information through your profile settings;
• request deletion of your account and associated personal data;
• withdraw consent or opt out of marketing communications at any time; and
• raise a concern or complaint about how we handle your data.

The Platform is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users under 18 should use the Platform only with the involvement and consent of a parent or guardian, and payments must be made by an adult. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@tutordost.com and we will delete it.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls, and secure cloud infrastructure. Passwords are stored only in hashed form, and sign-in is protected by one-time passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

We use cookies and similar local-storage technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences (such as your chosen theme), operate the Platform and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling them may affect some features, such as staying logged in.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the “Effective date” above and, where appropriate, notify you through the Platform. Your continued use of the Platform after an update means you accept the revised policy.
